Be realistic about
demolitions in Delhi
(February 18, 2006)
The orders of the Supreme Court and Delhi High Court to seal the
premises being used illegally for commercial purposes is correct
in law, but will no doubt cause great pain and suffering to thousands
of people, employed in these shops and establishments.
The courts have rightly done their duty. Now it is for the central,
state and local governments to come out with a solution that will
save thousands of crores of rupees from going down the drain.
